We and the staff of both the Day Centre and Hospital have put together what we would call a 'Wish List'. This basically consists of what they see as their most urgent needs.

Neither is in a position to be able to commit any funds to any of the items on their lists, so it has come to Aid to Georgia t help them with their respective lists. How far we will get with them we cannot say, but ALL fundraising carried out by us will be used to go towards purchasing at least some of the items required.

Rustavi Day Centre hs very specific needs. Their three main wants are:

1) A minibus that has a disabled lift fitted. They currently rent a standard minibus at a cost of over £800 a month, but spending in the region of £5000 would enable us to purchase a suitable vehicle and ship it to them. Not only would this mean they can collect pupils and return them home at the end of each day, but they would also have the opportunity to go out on excursions, thus enabling the pupils to socialise.

2) Two stairlifts. They currently run many classes upstairs in their building, but this means that members of staff have to carry the most severely disabled pupils up and down stairs several times a day. Just two powered stairlifts would take away this problem.

3) A dining area. With the difficulty caused by moving pupils up and down stairs, lunchtimes are spent in classrooms with pupils being fed there. Not only is this unhygienic, but it means the pupils cannot mix with each other. They have already identified a suitable room, now they just need to refurbish it!

Besides these main items, we are also looking to supply other smaller things which they are in need of: bedding, linen, soft flooring, educational toys, tables, chairs....the list goes on.

By contrast, Rustavi Hospital No. 2 has a very simple list - equipment.

They need literally anything and everything, from face masks to nebulizers, from inhalators to portable ultrasound units, from massage equipment to a mass spectrometer.
